This hands-on role is integral to guiding product development from concept through to launch, while ensuring robust technical standards, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure raw materials, suppliers, and processes meet stringent quality standards, while contributing to continuous improvement across technical and production functions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on problem-solving, system enhancement, and making a tangible impact in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

Process Development & Technical Support:

  • Support factory trials, scale-ups, and initial production runs, ensuring process capability and consistent product quality.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining product specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate data collection and reporting for shelf-life studies, process validations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Act as deputy for the Head of Technical and the NPD Manager when required.

New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD):

  • Support the delivery of customer-led NPD and EPD projects (Private Label, Branded, Co-pack), ensuring briefs are met on time and to specification.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Commercial teams to shape and refine product concepts.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and organise benchmarking panels to inform product development decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of trials, formulations, and development timelines.

Quality, Compliance and Supplier Management:

  • Support the management of raw material and supplier compliance, including onboarding, documentation, and performance monitoring.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues and customer complaints through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support to Procurement, Marketing, and Site Operations to ensure alignment across all functions.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience in a Technical or NPD role within FMCG, food, or manufacturing sectors (1–3 years preferred).
  • A degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO) and private label specifications is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.

Personal Attributes:

  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and confident working cross-functionally.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a strong continuous improvement mindset.
