Job Description:

To manage the Production Department, encompassing the organisation and overseeing of the manufacture of finished product, with responsibility for the smooth running of the production plant, quality of the output and day-to-day management of the Production team.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Follow all the Company’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures;
  • To manage the Production Team, ensuring all Health & Safety policies are adhered to;
  • To ensure production follows all agreed processes and standards to achieve the right quality every time;
  • Maintain the agreed hygiene standards of the Manufacturing environment (ensure Audit Ready Status/Operating to sound GMP standards);
  • To schedule labour to optimise production outputs, within agreed budgetary constraints;
  • Organise production to maximise plan attainment/yields and the business target in relation to service level to our customer base;
  • Manage the production team and evaluate the performance of all personnel reporting to you, agreeing further actions as necessary, carry out PDRs (annual appraisals);
  • Ensure all Production personnel are appropriately recruited/trained/developed, with deputising cover for all key roles across the shifts pattern (monitor holidays, sickness and absence across the department);
  • To develop a culture of right first time;
  • Liaise with other departments including Technical, Warehouse, Planning, Process and Engineering in order to ensure the smooth running of the Production Department;
  • Complete the Production/KPI reports and highlight any areas of concern as they arise, developing solutions/improvements as necessary for the key production indicators;
  • Ad hoc administrational duties.

Experience / Qualifications/Attributes:

  • At least 2 years’ experience of FMCG manufacturing management to world class standards;
  • At least 2 years’ experience of managing a small team;
  • Understanding of Change Management (Culture and ways of working);
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety (IOSH trained) and Quality Standards necessary in a manufacturing environment (member of the HACCP Team);
  • Experience of performance evaluation and training;
  • Experience in reporting Key Performance Indicators for Manufacturing;
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing (Belt Qualification) preferable.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills;
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results driven approach (PACE);
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Flexible and adaptable;
  • Good team player;
  • Strong IT skills – proficient in MS Office and working knowledge of SAP in relation to position.
